Wilderland Adventure Company

I came along on a wilderness trip to help supervise inner city youth (which is usually a challenge) and it was absolutely amazing. Matt and his co-worker led the group seamlessly. I was amazed by how hard he worked to ensure everyone was safe and had an amazing experience. There was the perfect mix of activity and time to relax so that the youth behaved really well.Since then I have done some other experiences with family (voyager boats and days hikes) and they were also awesome. Will definitely go again!

The day was wonderfully organized by the event planners/leaders. The snowshoe trek in was of appropriate length (25 minutes) for novice and intermediate snowshoers with the option of a longer trek afterwards. The stories from Georges would be some of the most authentic you would be able to find regarding the voyageurs, Metis people, and the fur trade. The option to warm up in the heated tent would be welcome on a colder day and not needed on the day we went for the adventure - we used it for a while anyway to be able to experience it. Pea soup and bannock were tasty and the fire outside was good for some basic warming up. We took a longer snowshoe trek of about 45 minutes just prior to dusk and the fresh snow and scenery was unrivalled, as far as winter scenes in the forest go. All in all, it was an easy, wonderful adventure. Kyle and Matt have a great thing going! I recommend this adventure!

Not only did we learn, we had a great time! I really appreciated how they mixed their professionalism and expertise with a personal and practical approach.

Our class had a great field trip. The programing was well organized and efficiently run. We enjoyed being outdoors, learning about Metis culture and history, and getting physical exercise. Kids developed skills like how to paddle a canoe. There was a strong emphasis on safety and, we as educators felt that our students were very safe. Every student reported enjoying this field trip.

What an amazing, unique Manitoba experience! I had such a wonderful time with Matt & his awesome team of guides! We sipped hot chocolate by the fire, told stories, ate a yummy dinner of split pea soup and bannock and made maple syrup taffy. We explored the trails by snowshoe, learned the ins and outs of setting up our hot tent and learned some great practical outdoor skills. Matt and his team are down to earth, friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this adventure to anyone wanting to try winter camping or just having a full day of fun outside!

Great snowshoeing adventure at St Malo Provincial Park with Wilderland Adventure Co. The Guides were welcoming and knowledgeable about the park. When we arrived at the camp the fire was already made. Hot chocolate and tea was served in a complimentary Wilderland mug. Red River Métis storyteller George told stories of the fur trade that occurred on the land centuries ago. Pea soup and bannock was provided as well as another snowshoe tour around the campground for those who were interested! Highly recommend!
